Old buildings from this period are characterized by a good, solid building fabric and generous opulence. Characteristic of this architectural style are large rooms and windows as well as stucco ceilings up to four meters high.
These houses are often inspired by Bauhaus architecture and designed for functionality and practicality. Plainly designed on the outside with simple plaster facades or brickwork, they convince on the inside with a well thought-out room layout, light-filled rooms up to a ceiling height of 2.80 metres.
The architectural style of the post-war period is characterised by standardised mass housing. Most houses of the 1950s were built as terraced houses or small housing estates. It is not until the 1960s that the quality of construction rises again.
The architectural language of postmodernism made use of various elements of earlier eras in order to reassemble them in a casual arrangement. Houses built in the 1990s are architecturally appealing and largely meet today's demands for comfort and technology.
